In 2000, FSU established the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement, C.A.R.E. which supports first generation, economically disadvantaged students throughout their time at Florida State. This student population flourishes with a graduation rate of 81% and an average GPA of over 3.0.

One subgroup of the CARE population is students who have been in foster care, experienced homelessness, relative care, or were wards of the State in their youth.  In recognition of their resilience and positive outlook, they have named themselves the Unconquered Scholars.

These students are bright and ambitious but come to campus with little or no family support. They strive to succeed in their academic disciplines but they need our help. Buying the bare necessities of life is difficult for these students and we hope to alleviate that burden a bit. Food, sheets, toiletries, clothing and transportation all are expensive and these students make choices every day about what they need most to buy.

You can help these young men and women immensely by making a donation. This will support  these students to buy the day to day living necessities. Because you CARE you can make a difference in a bright, young student’s life.
