Florida State’s College of Motion Picture Arts was founded to forge filmmakers through a classified, detailed, strenuous, almost impossible curriculum. This secret sauce of the film school, when mixed with Florida humidity, creates the strongest, most creative next generation of filmmakers. One might say those students become super heroes.
This soul-changing, body-building, pizza-craving experience is known as . . . actually making movies.
Unlike most selective programs that take place primarily in air-conditioned classrooms, FSU film students get dirty. We work on all of our classmate’s films, learning each position on set so that we understand filmmaking from 360 degrees. This all happens in the 360 degrees of heat that Florida is so fond of. We’re different because we work on over 40 short films by the time we graduate and invest in our classmates films. Why? Because we want to know how to make great movies backwards and forwards. We’re passionate and we can prove it to you by how hard we’re willing to work.
Now, we’re approaching the time where we, superhuman filmmaking warriors, will enter the vast world. Our final quest is to make our sixteen thesis films. These thesis films are going to be so fantastic, emotional, hilarious, and epic that you will not believe your eyes when you see them next August in the Ruby Diamond Auditorium (be there or be square). But before we can show you all that awesome, we need to pay for the ingredients of awesome.
We would like you to become honorary superhuman filmmaking warriors by donating to our thesis films. This makes you A) super cool 2) a filmmaker and III) our new best friend. In all seriousness, movies can’t be made without an army and that extends beyond just the crew. There is so much else that goes into making a film: locations, lunch, the price of fake blood, flights for actors, and so much more. All the little bits of movie magic add up to a bill that pixie dust just won't take care of.
We have the equipment. We have the crew. We have the brilliant idea. And we have some funds. We are almost ready to embark on this adventure, but we just need a little bit more money to add to that budget. And if you like to help make dreams come true, welcome to the team.
