The Allen Music Library at FSU welcomes over 650 students each day and has been a hub of activity within the College of Music's Housewright Music Building for more than 35 years. Our students and faculty find this space an inspiring environment for collaborative projects, score study, general research needs, and access to thousands of online resources.
In addition to our circulating collections of scores, books, and recordings, the Music Library is proud to offer access to hundreds of unique items relating to all areas of music. We house original manuscripts of musical compositions, facsimiles of works by major composers, jazz charts from performers working with major musicians like Frank Sinatra, and rare editions of musical treatises, among many other gems.
Why do we collect these treasures? Every semester faculty and students use these items in their classrooms and studios, bringing to life the study of musical works and their creators. Imagine studying performances of some of the jazz greats using charts owned by musicians in the band! Or discussing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony while being able to look at his notations in the manuscript!
Your support will enhance the student experience for years to come as the library brings more of these unique items to our collection.
