Caring for Students in Crisis
The Victim Advocate Program takes pride in assisting individuals in crisis to meet basic human needs, as well as ensuring those victimized have access to the necessary medical care. In addition, the Victim Advocate Program assists students by advocating to their instructors, referring to campus and community resources, and providing crisis counseling and safety planning. We also provide safe housing, where a student can reside temporarily, for their own protection until a more permanent accommodation can be made. Each victimization is unique and requires a response specific to the needs of each survivor. Make a gift today and help care for a student with these vital services during a time of crisis.
The FSU Victim Advocate Program serves FSU students, staff, or faculty who are victimized anytime, anywhere by providing the following services:
•Payment of medical bill incurred related to incidents of victimization
•Aid in living costs for situations that require a safe place to stay
•Replacement of cell phones or other electronic items that are essential to academic success
•Providing clothing and toiletry items to victims in immediate need
•Helping to ensure that individuals have basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter
The Victim Advocate Program also provides support and advocacy to victims who chose to pursue resolution through the legal processes, including helping victims file for a protective injunction or victim’s compensation with the State of Florida. Other situations may necessitate connecting victims to off-campus legal services where a fee may be incurred. Your gift will assist with helping a vulnerable member of our FSU community get the legal representation they deserve.
