“IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.” The FAMU-FSU IEEE student chapter shares that goal. As students here at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering we also seek to further our education and develop a broad set of business and engineering skills. The All-Electric Formula Car shown herein presents us a perfect opportunity to achieve these goals. This project will help us develop our technical skills and allow us to contribute to a greener future through more environmentally friendly transportation.
The All-Electric Formula Car acquired by our IEEE student group already contains a series wound DC motor, four speed transmission, chassis, body, suspension, wheels, and tires. It still needs a motor controller, batteries, a main contactor, reversing contactor, fuses, welding cables, and several other smaller components. The batteries are the central power source for the car, and the motor controller is used to regulate the voltage into the motor. These two parts are the most crucial components needed for the electric car.
