The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance to minority students.
100% of these contributions go to our scholarship endowment!!!
Each year, the organization awards deserving students with the following scholarships:
- Maxwell Courtney – In honor of the first Black undergraduate to attend and graduate from FSU. Designated for an incoming freshman from one of the following Florida counties: Duval, Gadsden, Leon, Miami-Dade, or Orange
- MLK Book Stipend – Awarded to three students during the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration through a scholarship process led by the Center for Leadership and Social Change
- Dr. William R. Jones – In honor of Professor Emeritus, and founder and first Director of the FSU Black Studies Program
- International Studies – Specifically designated for a student who is involved in FSU’s International Programs or plans to study abroad to gain a first-hand view of the world.
- Ms. Eva Killings – In recognition of a long-term FSU staff member, this scholarship is designated for a student who works on campus and demonstrates outstanding customer service.
- Byrnes Guillaume, Esq. – Initiated by Byrnes Guillaume to provide support to a Black Student of Caribbean Descent
- Walter T. King Medical – Initiated by Andrea King Friall, MD, and Eric S. Friall to provide support for first generation college students enrolled in the FSU College of Medicine (M.D. Degree Program)
The FSU Black Alumni is committed to ensuring that financial resources are available for the direct support of Black students in their pursuit of academic excellence. Through your financial support and continued assistance, together, we will be able to assist in the recruitment, admission, retention, graduation and placement of Black students at FSU. Please show your support and pride by considering a contribution of $40, $400, or $4,000 (although any and all amounts are welcome).
