The Florida State University Graduate Clarinet Ensemble is excited to perform at the International Clarinet Association's (ICA) ClarinetFest 2024 convention this summer in Dublin, Ireland!
The College of Music is raising funds to send the Graduate Clarinet Ensemble to this convention to perform their program, Perspectives, on an international stage. This project will provide invaluable pre-professional experience and premiere two newly commissioned pieces - contributing to the legacy of the FSU Clarinet Studio and the College of Music community. In other words, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
The travel cost per ensemble member is $3,350. A generous donor has committed $1,000 for each member - a total of $8,000 towards our fund. We would like to raise an additional $18,000+ to offset travel expenses to Ireland. Please consider donating to these phenomenal students to make their dreams a reality. Go Noles!
About the Project:
Perspectives
a multimedia performance
Our program will feature two newly commissioned works for clarinet octet and Arnold Schoenberg's Peace on Earth. Accompanied by a visual collage to inspire connection and community, the three works are unified through their varying perspectives on peace. Through this program, we explore the contemporary implications of Schoenberg's setting, which itself was written in a time of global uncertainty. The program promises to provide an experience that allows our audience the time and space to consider what peace in our communities could look and feel like in the uncertain times of today.
