The recent hurricane season has been devastating for so many families and schools throughout our home state of Florida, as well as Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia. This summer we aim to ensure that students who were directly impacted by these storms can still have an opportunity to attend music camp.
You have the opportunity to help us bring deserving young musicians to FSU. Your tax-deductible gift will go directly towards covering the full cost of camp for up to 10 students from hurricane effected areas who apply based on financial need and nominations from their music director. In addition, donations will go towards supporting smaller discounts for students from schools whose music programs are still recovering from hurricane damage, and to dozens of students who have worked hard all year long and have earned assistance through All-State, FSU Tri-State, teacher recommendations, and other events.
The FSU Summer Music Camps provides summer music instruction to over 1600 elementary, middle, and high school students for five weeks each June and July. In operation since 1942, the camps have provided an essential bridge in music education during the summer months, and for students looking to explore advanced instruction with the possibility to pursue collegiate studies after their high school graduation.
Our music camps provide students with opportunities, experiences, and memories that stay with them for a lifetime. We hope that you will be part of this effort to give exceptional summer experiences to students who need our help to weather the storm.
