Since its founding in 2018, The Village at the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) has advocated for reading and literacy development in our community. Our advocacy efforts to build awareness by sharing evidence-based information with local stakeholders has resulted in strong connections with local schools through our STAND UP for Reading kiosks, public institutions with our Book Nook Bundles, found at all Leon County libraries, and with families, caregivers, and educators using our Community Engagement and Empowerment Kits.
We are seeking your support for our next resource: Reading Roadmap Wheel: Language & Literacy in the Early Years. This cipher wheel-style product will allow families and community partners to review foundational skills for reading development for children between birth and age 8. Being able to look at expected milestones at-a-glance will help families and community partners obtain supports for those students who may be in need.
The Reading Roadmap Wheels have been developed by top reading researchers. We are seeking your help in the printing and distribution in high quality and sturdy products that will be distributed to schools and community hubs all over the state of Florida. Any funds raised over goal will allow us to produce and distribute a larger quantity of the product.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to provide local partners with a Reading Roadmap Wheel: Language and Literacy in the Early Years which contains:
- At-a-glance reading milestone breakdowns for children from the ages of birth to 8,
- Dual sided printing with both English and Spanish variants included, and
- FCRR-created training material to help guide users on best practices for the Reading Roadmap Wheel.
