The FSU Student Emergency Food Pantry was established by the Dean of Students Department in 2009 to assist with food insecurity among FSU students.  The pantry is supported through donations from individuals, departments, and organizations within the FSU community.  All advertisement is done through a growing social media presence and presentations to campus partners. The pantry has continued to grow to meet the needs of FSU students and has begun to offer a few perishable items and personal care items in addition to non-perishable food. Through gifts made from a few donors, we were able to purchase a commercial freezer over the summer.  It is now stocked with frozen meals to provide immediate nourishment for the students.  Last year, the pantry saw 1,200 students. 

The food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM (including between academic semesters). The pantry is utilized frequently with peak visits occurring during the first 2-3 weeks of the semester, then again in the middle of a semester, and often during the last 2-3 weeks of a semester. There has been an increase in need during this past month.
