During this season of giving, the Interior Architecture & Design program is working to provide scholarships to help students attend professional development opportunities.

Did you know?

It costs about $500 - $1,000 for a student to attend a conference or trade show.

Professional development for students provides them with the opportunity to network with other students and design professionals, potential employers, and gain exposure to real-world issues and best practices.  Graduate students also will have the opportunity to present their research.

Students will have the opportunity to apply for travel scholarships to NeoCon, High Point Market, IDEC and other significant design-related events in 2019.

NeoCon: Held every June in Chicago, NeoCon serves as the commercial design industry’s launch pad for innovation—offering ideas and introductions that shape the built environment today and into the future.  

High Point: The High Point Market is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bringing more than 75,000 people to High Point, North Carolina every six months. 

IDEC: The Interior Design Educators Council advances interior design education, scholarship, and service. The annual conference brings together more than 350 interior design educators and graduate students working to enhance the education of current and future interior designers.

       Registration fees

            Student rates to register for these conferences range between $115 - $250.

        Travel

           Flights out of Tallahassee start at $350.

        Lodging

           Most students will double-up in a room ranging from $120-$250 per night.

           Conference attendance generally requires a two-night stay.

       Daily meals

About the Department:

The Department of Interior Architecture and Design, housed in the College of Fine Arts, encompasses a 4-year CIDA accredited undergraduate curriculum and a one-year master of science (M.S.) degree or a 2-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.  Students are exposed to design theory, history, technical skills, and participate in studio classes addressing residential and commercial spaces including health care, retail, office environments, hospitality and designs for special populations such as children, elders, and others in need of supportive spaces.  The curriculum prepares students to work in design firms, as interior designers in architectural firms, and a number of other design-related settings.
