Student Exhibit: Modern Architecture of Israel

Support experiential learning at FSU through a gift to the Fall 2019 student-curated exhibit Stories Laid in Stone: Modern Architecture in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, opening November 7th, 2019 at the WJB Gallery.

About the exhibition:

Stories Laid in Stone: Modern Architecture in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is a student-curated exhibit which showcases the different modern architectural styles in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It is through this lens that the exhibit explores the cities' myths, cultures, and identities. Stories Laid in Stone invites viewers to look at these cities, often viewed as politically charged and sensitive locations, with new eyes; to explore their histories, cultures, and identities through something as innocuous as an office building. This show strives to show people that Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are cities full of real people and built with a complexity that makes them beautiful and intriguing.

About the course:

The Museum Object course is the culmination of the Museum Studies minor for undergraduates at Florida State University. This course examines the history, philosophy, practice, and implications of acquiring, researching, and displaying objects in art museums and gallery spaces in the modern era. Additionally, the course provides students with hands-on experience in designing and mounting a show in a gallery setting.

Make A Gift:

Museums employ more than 400,000 people in the United States. Your gift gives these students an experience which can prepare them for a rewarding career in this industry, as well as marketing, budgeting, planning and fundraising skills applicable to any future position.

Your gift will allow our students to:

  • create wall texts
  • design and print an exhibition catalogue
  • promote their exhibition to the FSU and Tallahassee communities
  • acquire installation supplies
