FSU Civil Rights Institute Internship Support
Help us empower budding student leaders with the skills needed to effect social change through a paid internship at the FSU Civil Rights Institute. Our interns actively participate in civil rights activities, interacting with local and national civil rights figures in the fight for social justice. Previous interns have assisted in planning for CRI programs, including events with artists Michael Rosato and Ted Ellis, author and academic Dave Tell, and Florida prison reform activist Desmond Meade.
In the coming year, the Civil Rights Institute intern will:
- Research collections on civil rights history to create exhibits, programs, and public marketing materials
- Help to plan programs and events
- Attend community meetings and assist with large-scale projects (including with the City of Tallahassee and Florida A&M University)
- Manage social media accounts
Your gift will enable us to provide a salary for a part-time intern in the 2021-2022 academic year.
About the FSU Civil Rights Institute
The Florida State University Civil Rights Institute, established in 2018, is an interdisciplinary endeavor created by the Office of the Provost, FSU Libraries, the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, the College of Communication and Information, and the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The institute will host speakers and events, curate museum exhibits, develop an interactive website and publications, support education and research, and build library collections that focus on civil rights and social change.
