Support for Social Science Scholars

GIVING FOR THE FUTURE!

As a Social Science Scholar, then and now, you are a big part of what makes the FSU College of Social Sciences and Public Policy such a vital, diverse, and complex educational environment.

As one of the exceptional students over the years selected for the college’s signature program, you were recognized as an outstanding leader and innovator during your time at FSU, and you have gone on to great things in the world.

Now you can honor all you were given by this unique and valuable program – and everything it made possible for you to give to the world – by supporting the generations of students who come after you.

Your generous gift of any size makes it possible for the program to continue offering unprecedented opportunities for leadership training, internships, and research and service projects throughout the U.S. and the globe.

And your donation of any size will be QUADRUPLED by a match from these longtime program supporters.

Marie Cowart, dean of the college from 1993 to 2003, has been a staunch supporter of the program and mentor to our Scholars since its establishment in 2011, recognizing the need to provide students with extraordinary educational experiences beyond the classroom.

During his tenure as dean from 2003 to 2016, David Rasmussen established the Social Science Scholars program, building upon the college’s long history of graduating men and women who have gone on to distinguished careers in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Marshall Cohn ((B.S. Economics, Social Sciences ’81), founder of the real estate firm The Dunhill Companies, was one of the first to get on board when Dean Rasmussen told him he was establishing the Social Science Scholars program. He believes so strongly in the program that he has also served as an interviewer, helping to choose the annual cohort of 18 students from dozens of applicants.

Now these two eminent educators and this successful business leader are joining forces – with YOU! – to assure the continued success and growth of the Social Science Scholars program.

For every dollar you donate, they will match it with three more, up to $5,000 each.

Thanks to the generosity of these supporters, that means for every $1 you give, the program will receive $4.

THINK OF THE DIFFERENCE YOU CAN MAKE IN THE LIVES OF FUTURE GENERATIONS OF STUDENTS!

THINK OF THE GREAT LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS THEY CAN BRING TO THE WORLD WITH YOUR SUPPORT!

"Why have I supported the Social Science Scholars for the last ten years? Because I watched young women and men from a wide array of backgrounds graduate from this program composed, confident, and capable of leading others in making change. Our Social Science Scholars are needed to help solve some of the many problems our world is facing. To do that, we need to assure the future of this fine leadership program.”
  - Dean Emerita Marie Cowart

"The college created the Social Science Scholars program to provide a special leadership seminar and project experience throughout the world for some of the most exceptional undergraduates among our outstanding student body. I am extremely proud to have participated in the creation of this program.  I encourage our Scholars to join me, Dean Marie Cowart, Marshall Cohn and other generous alumni in supporting this jewel in the college’s crown.”
  - Dean Emeritus David Rasmussen

“I’ve always been impressed by the caliber of the typical FSU student, but these Social Science Scholars are truly exceptional. I’m convinced that many of them are going to change the world.” - Marshall Cohn, College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Distinguished Alumnus 2017
