Experiential learning in the form of hands-on clinical experiences have always been a critical part of the curriculum at the Florida State University College of Nursing. The practical real-world clinical experience gained is immeasurable and students are prepared to enter the nursing profession when they graduate. As part of these experiential learning experiences students are required to purchase and wear uniforms for their clinical experiences. The uniforms allow clinical site staff to easily distinguish between students and employees, and to determine which nursing program the students represent.
Nursing students already incur more expenses than other students on campus, and they are required to purchase specific scrub uniforms and other items for their clinical learning experiences. To assist our students with these additional out of pocket expenses, the College is asking for donations to purchase uniforms for newly admitted nursing students. We admit 72 students per semester (fall, spring, and summer). The cost to cover the purchasing of uniforms for all 216 students is approximately $26,000 annually.
Your gift to support FSU nursing students would help off-set the following expenses:
- Total uniform costs per student = $120.50
- Scrubs (2 tops and bottoms) - $51.30
- Polo Shirt for Community Clinical - $18.40
- Lab Coat - $30.10
- Long sleeve t-shirts - $8.70
- Name tags - $12.00
We hope we can count on you!
