New Zealand Study Abroad Student Scholarship

Provide students the opportunity to explore hospitality in New Zealand.

At the FSU Dedman College of Hospitality, we believe global experience is essential to developing the next generation of hospitality leaders. The New Zealand Study Abroad program offers students the opportunity to expand their perspectives, experience a new culture, and gain valuable international industry insight in one of the world’s most dynamic tourism destinations.

New Zealand is globally recognized for its innovative hospitality practices, sustainable tourism initiatives, and breathtaking natural landscapes. Through this immersive academic experience, students learn firsthand how global hospitality operations thrive in a unique island nation known for excellence in service, environmental stewardship, and cultural pride.

Your support helps make this life-changing experience accessible to students who may not otherwise be able to participate.

Program Highlights

Students in the New Zealand Study Abroad program combine academic coursework with hands-on industry exposure across Auckland and the North Island. Site visits to leading hospitality and tourism organizations are paired with immersive experiences such as a welcome sail in Auckland Harbor, visits to Waiheke and Tiritiri Matangi Islands, an ecological project on Motuihe Island, and an overnight academic excursion to Rotorua.

Cultural engagement is central to the program. Students participate in authentic Māori experiences, explore geothermal landscapes at Hell’s Gate, and examine how sustainability and indigenous heritage influence modern hospitality operations. Additional highlights may include winery tours, adventure tourism activities like zorbing, and iconic destinations such as Hobbiton.

Through these experiences, students build global perspective, cross-cultural competence, and a deeper understanding of sustainable hospitality leadership.

How Your Gift Makes an Impact

Study abroad programs come with significant costs, including:

  • International airfare

  • Program tuition and fees

  • Lodging and accommodations

  • Cultural excursions and site visits

  • Meals and transportation

Your contribution directly supports student scholarships that help offset these expenses. By reducing financial barriers, you allow more students to participate in this transformative global experience.

Every donation — regardless of size — brings us closer to ensuring that talented and deserving students can represent FSU abroad.
