The World Affairs Program (WAP) is a student-run academic program within the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, which gives students of FSU an academic, competitive, and social outlet in an educational setting.
The primary mission of WAP is to promote an increased awareness of the global community, while at the same time encouraging personal, social, and political growth among those who participate in the program.
Currently ranked among the Top 16 Model United Nations debate teams in North America, WAP travels to competitions on the Eastern seaboard and Canada to discuss foreign policies, international legislation, and utilize diplomatic strategies. By encouraging students passionate about international affairs to get involved, WAP hopes to inspire the next generation of world leaders.
Due to budget limitations in recent years, WAP has been unable to attend conferences on the U.S. West Coast. After award-winning performances at the largest conferences in 2018, we are hoping to add a wider reach to our competitive opportunities and prove our place among the best teams in the world.
Your donation supports the program and increases the opportunities for WAP students to travel to more conferences and competitions.
In addition to travel expenses such as flights, hotels, and registration fees, WAP is hoping to raise enough money to increase programming efforts and reach more students on campus. Projects that would be supported include:
- Professional Development Fair (partnered with FSU alumni and the Career Center to offer seminars on professional development)
- Regional Training Conference, an annual competition now in its 26th year, hosted by FSU WAP that allows new delegates from FSU and other regional universities to compete outside the official Model UN events
- Further training events for students who want to participate in WAP activities
