Donors who make a gift of $500+ will be displayed on the donor appreciation plaque inside the lab.
Senior Design impacts every undergraduate student, and the senior design lab is the place where students go to express their knowledge – to create the bridge between the theoretical side of engineering and actual application. The lab allows them to improve their critical thinking and conceptualization skills while being exposed to real-world projects.
As the department grows, so does the need for a larger space to accommodate more students. We also need to integrate new technologies and software into the lab. The department and college have decided to invest in our students by identifying a new space for the senior design lab. The new space will have additional workstations, integrated technology, a small meeting space to facilitate group presentations and modular furniture to foster collaboration.
To make the new lab a reality, the department is approaching this in three funding stages:
1. Investment by the Department: Hiring of a new professor of practices, upgrading computers and software. (Goal: ~$100K)
2. Investment by the Department Advisory Board: 100% participation by the board. (Goal: ~$50K)
3. Investment by Alumni and Friends: Purchasing of additional computers, monitors, furniture, and other needs. (Goal: ~$20K).
Contributions in 2018 got us part-way there, but we need continued support by alumni and friends to finish the job.
