WVFS Tallahassee 89.7FM, the Voice of Florida State (also affectionately known as V89), is excited to be a part of Florida State University’s 2021 Great Give! We know it has been a hard year for everyone, and we remain grateful for our students, staff, and listeners.
Normally staffed by nearly 200 hardworking volunteers from every corner of campus and every walk of life, V89 provides diversity in programming while serving as a topnotch training facility, offering students real world experience, academic opportunities, and professional development in all facets of radio operations, including News, Sports, Production, Continuity, Development, Public Relations, Announcing, Multimedia, and Live Studio Recording. While the pandemic has made operations more difficult, we remain on air 24/7, are working hard behind the scenes (hello remote operations!), and in studio as circumstances allow.
College radio remains an important educational opportunity for students from all majors, not just Communication, and—for more than 33 years—V89 has provided exciting learning opportunities to thousands while also serving as a nationally recognized, premiere independent radio station for the campus and the community, and the world at large via streaming audio at wvfs.fsu.edu.
With your financial support, V89 can continue to provide this exceptional personal and professional experience. Funds raised help us to maintain round the clock broadcast, manage emergency needs, and upgrade station operations and facilities—including our current goals of establishing a fully operational podcast studio and digitizing our music catalog of nearly 40,000 pieces.
