Support the Hardee Center

The legacy of Dr. Melvene Hardee continues to be honored through the Hardee Center for Leadership and Ethics in Higher Education’s continual support of our graduate students; and the strengthening of the LifeNet, our alumni network. Each year, we ask that our LifeNet and other supporters donate towards our annual Great Give goal, and because of your generosity we have achieved amazing things, these last few years, including:

  • The purchase of 34 eBooks for the FSU Library, each of which is a required textbook for the Higher Education Program, drastically lowering the financial burden for our graduate students.
    • Additionally, these eBooks are “unlimited access” meaning, countless students can access these texts digitally, all at the same time!
  • The ability to provide 75 tickets to students to attend the 2021 ACPA and 2021 NASPA Virtual Conferences.
  • Revamping the Hardee Fellowship Program to remove the GPA requirement and expanding the funding usage beyond just travel to more inclusive professional development opportunities (such as workshops, certificates, book purchases, and dissertation expenses).
    • This year, we were able to provide $400 in support for the 17 students who applied and were selected for this designation!
  • The development of a dissertation award to financially support doctoral students’ research efforts.

While we have thankfully been able to achieve all these student support advances due to our LifeNet’s generosity, we would love to continue to grow our student support related initiatives by raising at least $7,500 during this year’s Great Give Campaign. Gifts given during this time will continue to support our higher education graduate students ensuring their success within our program and beyond.

With your support this year we would love to continue to purchase both required and recommended eBooks for our program, increase the amount of financial support provided to each Hardee Fellow, and grow the number of awards we can offer our students.
