A letter from Nick:
Hi, I’m Nicholas Marini, a third-year senior in Florida State University's Sport Management program. After graduating, my goal is to attend law school and one day become a judge. So far, it’s been a very unorthodox path.
I graduated high school in 2020, so my senior year was cut short—no prom, no senior trips, and no graduation. My entire first year of college was me and a computer screen, devoid of even a singular zoom call. I attempted to stay on campus during the online year, but ended up returning home after only a month and a half. I love classroom interactions and thrive off of interpersonal connections, but that wasn’t my experience when I first came to FSU.
As a student, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted from school or for my future. I knew I wanted to work in law but didn’t know how I could have a differential advantage in such a competitive field. Sport Management provided a unique background and perception that could also open up doors to multi-billion dollar sport entities.
Then classes started. Having teachers that cared about my education and advisors that guided me made me feel welcomed during my first semester of real college.
I became much more involved in the Department of Sport Management and created new connections that would eventually land me my summer job with the Miami Marlins and my current role with the College of Education. I know what I want from my future and how I can achieve that thanks to the amazing people I get to work with on a daily basis to further my education at the Department of Sport Management.
