Support the Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology and its students with a gift today! The department is establishing a lab to give dietetics students hands-on experience and in-depth training.
Today’s dietitians are asked to conduct clinical procedures such as metabolic testing, swallowing screens and evaluations, and feeding tube intubation. This means we’re working hard to ensure each of our students can develop these competencies in a full-scale simulated hospital setting. Our new dietetics lab and ‘intubation station’ will give students the proper space and equipment to receive advanced training from faculty. An electric hospital bed and intubation mannikin are priority equipment needs for the lab.
The lab will also include learning stations, nutrition counseling space, and areas for students to conduct nutrition-focused physical examinations, blood pressure and glucose testing, prepare food prep models, and practice other applicable skills to be clinic-ready. The lab will help support accreditation standards at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Any donation, big or small, will go a long way in supporting NIP programs, such as the creation of the lab, and ensuring students receive exposure to the latest technology and techniques.
