Arrowhead Advertising Students
Arrowhead Advertising is FSU’s National Student Advertising Competition team. The team competes in the American Advertising Federation’s three-tier annual competition that begins in April and concludes with the national competition in June.
Founded more than 40 years ago by retired professor Barry Solomon, Arrowhead Advertising has a rich history in the School of Communication. The team is a consistently top performing team, placing first in the district competition four times in the past five years (2024, 2022, 2021 and 2020) and ranking nationally in 2024, 2020 and in 2017.
Each fall, students receive a case brief announcing the national client and marketing challenge to be solved. Students conduct original research and bring a singular strategy to life with a fully executed campaign and creative assets. The team presents the campaign to a panel of industry judges in a 20-minute pitch at the district competition. The winning district team advances to semi-finals and the top eight semi-finalists compete in the national round of the competition.
Through the yearlong experience, students develop their skills in leadership, project management, problem solving, public speaking, design thinking, communication, collaboration and technical skills. And they emerge with industry knowledge, professionalism and confidence grown from the hands-on, real-world nature of the learning experience.
Your donations ensure the team has the funds to participate in the district competition, which includes AAF membership dues, overnight travel to the district competition, and various team-related activities.
