School of Communication –Arrowhead Advertising

Goal $1500

Arrowhead Advertising, Florida State’s award winning student advertising team, competes annually in the largest student advertising competition in the country; the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC).  More than 150 colleges and universities compete annually.

This year’s NSAC corporate sponsor is Snapple. Each competing school’s task is to develop a complete integrated marketing communication campaign for the brand.

Arrowhead’s current team consists of 19 students.  They have been working on the project since the beginning of the fall semester.  They have been conducting research, developing campaign strategy, testing their ideas, creating and producing executions, and putting their plan into a finished campaign book and formal presentation.

The district competition will be held in Orlando on April 15-16.  All 19 students will be traveling to the competition to watch the five-person presentation team present the campaign to a five-panel group of judges.  The district winner will advance to a semifinal round of 16 national semifinalists in May, and the final eight finalists will compete for the national title in Anaheim, California in June.

Arrowhead Advertising has served as a springboard to launch these students’ careers.  Over the years, the vast majority of Arrowhead participants who have sought to continue their careers in advertising have found employment in the field within three months of graduation.

Currently, the team has been using equipment in their advertising lab that has not been upgraded in five years.  Computers and monitors are outdated, and most team members opt to use their own equipment because it is quicker and more efficient.  More modern Macs and display monitors are a pressing need in the lab.
